meet fishface! we were tasked with making a character suitable for tossing some dead weight around. what a good oppritunity to pay homage to those b-movie monsters! you can see him in action here!

FINALLY a post! ive been pretty busy at school, and interestingley, i havnt noticed any artwork of mine that i think belongs here. aside from a few random tidbits that is. And here they are! a few backgrounds done in my free time, including a colour key for a future painting assignment- it should be alot of fun!

So my free time has been kept busy for the past bit working on this render. A client gave me the isometric plans to a house he was building soon, and i built a 3d house from them and painted over it for promotional purposes.

mangosteen??

Ive never seen this fruit before. so i bought it and took it home, only with the intention to paint it!
after doing some research online ( i typed in Thailand fruit) i found out that its a mangosteen, and its recently started coming into Canada after a ban on its sale to north America was lifted. neato! this painting took about half an hour- i couldn't wait to crack it open and eat it, just out of curiosity. now that i have, i can say that a mangosteen is what happens when a banana and a clementine get together. it tastes a bit like kiwi, if anything. i, erm, wont be buying mangosteens anymore...

Still Life Homework

this was supposed to be a "survivalist" themed still life, using a stronger source of light than last time. salmon, kippers and coke is a winning combination!

gouache still life in-class

we had to bring in some objects from home to paint in class. that metal thinger is a jawharp, or something- i picked it up in new york during a historical re-enactment event. i used an envelope to make it reflect the yellow. The diffused light in the classroom was interesting to use.

gouache doodle

well well. i thought id take a stab at gouache, since I've been pretty bad at it so far. so i went out and got the proper paints, and the correct paper, and lo and behold; i didn't have to fight the medium this time!
just a boring doodle of a generic, expressionless woman. i guess i was concentrating on the flesh tone, and not making her look like a ghoul. Next time, ill do a better job!
